Schedule 11

Schedule 11 records tuition, education, and/or textbook amounts.

To open Schedule 11, double-click on the form named "S11 - Tuition Education" in the Form Manager.

Most of the information in Schedule 11 is derived from the T2202 form, which also serves as the T2202A, TL11A, TL11B, and TL11C forms, as the other forms are almost identical to the T2202.

To open the T2202 form, double-click on the form named "T2202 - Tuition Fees" in the Form Manager.

Enter the appropriate details in the T2202 form. If you are transferring a portion of your unused current year tuition fees to another person. Check the appropriate boxes and enter the amounts being transferred in the fields provided.

You can only transfer current year amounts that you are not using to reduce your own tax liability to zero. The taxpayer must use these amounts before transferring them to another person. Since the credit received is non-refundable, it is important not to transfer more than the other person needs to reduce their own tax liability.

Any unused amount not transferred will roll forward indefinitely to the first year where the taxpayer can make use of them. Any unused amount transferred to another person and not used by them to reduce their tax liability is wasted.

Reporting Information

On Schedule 11 enter the amount of unused federal tuition and education amounts from your 2011 Notice of Assessment in the field provided.

Note: If you have unused provincial tuition and education amounts you will also need to report those on the equivalent provincial Schedule.
