Examining Your Workspace
Working with your return in TaxTron is
very similar to working with a standard paper return. In fact, many of
the forms will look just like the paper version. There are also some additional
areas to assist in preparing your return.
Workplace Overview
The workspace for your TaxTron software
will appear as the following:

TaxTron workspace
A. Menu Bar B. Button toolbar C. Forms Manager pane
D.
Form Display E. Examples of open forms
The menu bar
on the top allows access to various menus and their commands.
The Button
toolbar gives
you a tactile interface to the most common functions of the program.
The Forms
Manager pane allows you to see the various forms already available
in your return, as well as add/remove additional forms or schedules as
necessary.
The Form
display shows you the currently active form and allows you to record your
information.
The row of open
forms makes it easy to jump from form to form as necessary when
preparing your return.
Setting Preferences
The Preferences window allows you to set various default settings in
the software, from changing the colour scheme to setting up electronic
filing for professionals.
Go to the Tools
menu, and select Preferences to open the
Preferences window.
The File
tab allows you to select the default locations of where various files
are saved. Generally, changing the default locations is not recommended,
as future year's software will assume the locations have been left unchanged.
The Preparer
tab allows tax professionals to enter necessary information for e-filing returns, as well as default information
for filling our RC59 and T183 forms used in submitting tax returns.
The Print
tab allows you to set various settings regarding printing of tax returns.
The General
tab allows you to change the default colour scheme, automatically set
the language of correspondence, and other miscellaneous functions.
