Steps Mode Returns!
While we weren’t able to get Steps Mode included into last year’s software, we listened to you and now it’s back, better than ever! Instead of merely spoon-feeding you the forms to fill out, saving you only having to know the name of the form, our new improved Steps Mode leads you through the return in plain language, step-by-step, from beginning to end. On top of that, since we’ve migrated the steps from our Windows software, we took the opportunity to streamline the steps, consolidating steps together to reduce the number of steps required while still making it easy to prepare a return without even knowing the forms. But as always, we don’t lock you into one mode or another. You can switch back and forth from the Forms mode to Steps and back, and any changes you make in one will be reflected in the other!
Easier Linked Returns
Improved from 2011, now the return can be linked and unlinked with the spouse’s return with ease! Link or unlink the return at the start, or create separate returns and link them afterward. Linking returns allows the software to enter amounts automatically from one spouse’s return to the other, reducing errors and allowing you to prepare the return more rapidly. At the same time, the intelligence programmed into the software works to optimize credits and deductions between spouses to give you the maximum joint return possible.
Easier Removal of Forms
Also improved from 2011, adding forms was as easy as double clicking on the Form in the Form Manager, and it still is. But removing forms has become even easier. If the form is not a default form, simply click on the large, friendly Remove Form “X” in the upper left corner or the button below the Form Manager. If the form is a default form which cannot be removed, the Remove Form button will be greyed out.
Roll Forward Improvements
Because of the necessity of rewriting the software from scratch last year, and some incompatibilities between the old software and the new version, the roll-forward functionality was extremely limited. Well, we took the opportunity after last tax season to go through every form in the software. Now if there is an amount which can be rolled forward, it is! From Business Activities forms, to Rental Statements, to Tuition amounts, RRSP limits, and more, everywhere there is an amount than can be rolled forward, the software has been reengineered to handle the roll-forward amounts properly, making your time preparing your return more productive with less work.
